Recently, the China Artists Association announced the results of the final review for the 4th Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition. Wu Min, a faculty member of the School of Art, has successfully secured a place in the exhibition with her work AI Era. Out of 228 pieces selected nationwide, Wu’s work stood out for its unique artistic expression and distinct contemporary themes, highlighting the innovative strength of the School’s faculty in the field of contemporary ceramic art.

The “Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition,” organized by the China Artists Association, is a prestigious national academic event held once every five years. It consistently focuses on the academic advancement and diverse exploration of contemporary ceramic art, standing as one of the most authoritative and influential professional exhibitions in China’s ceramic art landscape. This selection not only serves as high recognition of Wu Min’s individual artistic exploration but also vividly reflects the School’s achievements in artistic creation and pedagogy.
Using ceramic as a medium, AI Era deeply integrates the narrative of the artificial intelligence era. With Cubism and Primitivism as its formal core, the work constructs a sculptural entity that balances modernity and primitivity. It employs multi-perspective deconstruction and reassembly, geometric modeling languages, and spatial constructions that intertwine the real and the virtual. Combined with the authentic expression of clay and glaze, the piece responds to the 20th-century modernist quest to innovate form and space. Simultaneously, it conveys cultural connotations imbued with ritualistic and spiritual significance amidst the collision of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge concepts, showcasing a profound dialogue between tradition and modernity, primitivism and civilization.
