On the evening of April 15, 2026, the "Tribute to Classics,Strengthen Friendship" --Sino-German Youth Music Exchange was grandly held at the Kandinsky Hall, School of Art, Nanchang University. The event was hosted by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Mainz-Wiesbaden German-Chinese Friendship Association, and organized by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the School of Art, and the Western Returned Scholars Association affiliated to Nanchang University. Centered on commemorating the 270th Anniversary of Mozart's Birth, with music as a medium and a bridge, young musicians from China and Germany present the audience with a magnificent cross-border feast of classical music.

The music exchange opened amid warm applause. Wu Dan, Vice President of Nanchang University, Tu Anbo, Full-time Vice President of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Kurt Kast, Vice President of the Federal Association of German-Chinese Friendship Associations and Honorary President of the Mainz-Wisbaden German-Chinese Friendship Association, delivered speeches successively. They jointly expressed their hope that, with music as a bond,Chinese and German youth would deepen exchanges and promote the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Subsequently, young Chinese and German musicians took the stage together, presenting a wonderful audio-visual feast integrating Chinese and Western elements. The exchange opened with Schubert's classic art song The Erlking. Luo Yin, a teacher from the Music Department, delivered a highly expressive performance that accurately interpreted the dramatic conflicts and artistic essence of the work.

David Jakob Schlegel, the young German tenor guest, along with pianist Franciscus Benedict Baum, jointly performed a series of classic opera arias by Mozart, including excepts from Don Giovanni, La clemenza di Tito, Idomeneo, and The Magic Flute. His exquisite vocal technique and delicate emotional handling won waves of applause from the audience.

Schlegel and Qu Yuting, a postgraduate student from the School of Art, passionately performed the classic Chinese song Homesickness, expressing profound and timeless patriotic nostalgia. Lei Lei, a young teacher, collaborated with Schlegel on the classic duet Lippen schweigen from the operetta The Merry Widow, fully demonstrating the romantic elegance of Western classical music with a lingering charm.

Conveying friendship through singing, the concert came to a successful conclusion as Chinese and German artists jointly performed the Chinese folk song Jasmine Flower.

This exchange has built a platform for young Chinese and German musicians to communicate and showcase their talents, deepening mutual understanding and sincere friendship between the youth of the two countries. In the future, with art as a bond,the School of Arts will continue to actively promote mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, and contribute artistic strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
