On the afternoon of April 3rd, Ge Pingbo, a National Class Composer, was invited by the School of Art to deliver an academic lecture titled “Rethinking ‘Knowledge Changes Destiny’ in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”The event took place in Kandinsky Hall at the Art Building and was presided over by He Shijian, Associate Dean of the School. The lecture sparked a profound intellectual storm among over one hundred faculty members and students regarding the interplay between technology and humanity, as well as tools and cognition.
In accessible yet insightful language, Ge Pingbo elucidated the iterative evolution of AI technology, emphasizing that its underlying logic remains rooted in human intelligence and that it ultimately serves as a tool created for human benefit. Anchoring his discussion in the enduring significance of knowledge, he reinterpreted the contemporary meaning of the maxim “knowledge changes destiny.” He stressed that “the completeness and richness of human life can only be achieved through a deep cultivation of knowledge. This process fosters independent thinking and autonomous thought, solidifies firm values, outlooks on life, and worldviews, and forges independent judgment, a spiritual core, and a self-consistent ideological system. These qualities constitute the core ‘competitiveness’ of the AI era and serve as the cornerstone and soul of a fulfilled life.”

The lecture concluded with vibrant interaction, as attendees actively participated in discussions and shared their personal reflections, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
Moving forward, the School of Art will continue to host academic lectures to build robust platforms for theoretical exchange. By fostering dialogue and stimulating innovative thought, the School remains committed to staying true to its original mission, striving for excellence, and advancing steadily in the realms of talent cultivation and artistic creation.
